Shannon Leto is an American musician and musician best known for the drummer of rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. He co-founded the group in 1998 in Los Angeles, California with his younger brother Jared. Their debut album, 30 Seconds to Mars, was released to positive reviews but with limited success. The group gained worldwide fame with the release of the second album A Beautiful Lie. Their subsequent releases, This Is War and Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams, received more commercial and critical acclaim. By September 2014, the group had sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. Leto has worked on a number of side projects over the course of his career, including collaborating with Antoine Becks, recording with the pop-up group The Wondergirls, and playing occasionally with Street Drum Corps. His creative contributions to music have received rave reviews from musicians and critics alike. He is known for his dynamic drum style and energetic live performances.
